Terms of use

1. Agreement

These terms govern access to Plume, an editorial information website operated in Jakarta, Indonesia. By reading the site, you agree to use it lawfully and respectfully. If you do not accept these terms, please discontinue use.

These terms apply to every page of the site, including articles, guides, the contact form, and downloadable resources, from the moment a page is opened. They are written for adult readers who use the site for personal information, study, or professional interest. If a separate written agreement is made between Plume and a contributor, partner, or organisation, that agreement applies to the matters it covers and these terms continue to apply to everything else. Reading the site does not create a client, patient, or professional relationship of any kind.

  • (a) Use is permitted for lawful, personal, and non-commercial reading.
  • (b) Use by an organisation, for example in a workplace programme, requires a written request to the editorial desk.

Access to the site is free of charge, and no account is needed to read articles. Plume asks for an email address only when a reader chooses to write to the editorial desk. The terms are written in English, and where a translation is provided for convenience, the English text is the reference version. Continued use of the site after a dated change to these terms means the reader accepts the revised version, while a reader who disagrees with a change can stop using the site at any time.

  • (c) Use of the site by a reader under 18 is expected to be supervised by a parent or guardian, since the material is written for adults.
  • (d) The English text is the reference version of these terms.

2. Editorial information

Plume publishes general educational material. Articles are not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, financial advice, or an emergency service. Individual decisions should be discussed with a qualified professional.

Plume’s articles summarise public guidance, research, and expert interpretation, and they are reviewed for clarity before publication, but they cannot take account of a reader’s personal circumstances. A reader who has a medical condition, takes regular medication, is recovering from injury, or is unsure whether a practice is suitable should seek an individual assessment from a licensed practitioner. Content about movement, sleep, nutrition, and stress is descriptive, and a mention of a method is not an instruction addressed to a particular person. Financial, legal, and tax topics, where they appear, are mentioned only to give context.

  • (a) Articles are not a diagnosis, a prescription, or a care plan.
  • (b) Examples and routines illustrate general ideas and are not tailored recommendations.
  • (c) In an emergency, a reader should contact local emergency services, not Plume.

Where an article touches on a topic such as joint pain, low mood, or blood pressure, it explains general concepts and points to the type of professional who can assess the matter. A reader should not postpone seeking care because a page describes a similar situation. Plume’s writers do not act as a reader’s practitioner and do not know the reader’s medical history. Dates shown on articles indicate when the content was last reviewed, and older pages may not reflect later guidance.

  • (d) A review date on a page is not a statement that the topic is unchanged since then.
  • (e) Mention of a practitioner type, such as a physiotherapist, is not a referral to a named individual.

3. No guarantees

Health outcomes vary by person, history, environment, and adherence. Plume makes no promise that a practice will produce a particular result and avoids claims of guaranteed improvement or cures.

Plume does not present any practice as certain to work for every reader, and it does not describe an outcome as predictable. Where an article cites a study, the text identifies its size, population, and limits so that a reader can judge how far the finding applies. Statements about averages, ranges, or typical experience describe groups of people and say nothing about one individual. A reader who does not notice a change after following a routine should not conclude that they did something wrong, since many factors outside a reader’s control influence how a person feels.

Cited figures, such as the share of adults who report short sleep, come from the named source and are reproduced for context. Plume does not forecast results for a reader, and the site contains no calculators, scoring tools, or personalised projections. Personal accounts, where they appear, are marked as individual stories and are not evidence of what others will experience. A reader is encouraged to treat any practice as something to discuss with a professional, and to stop if it causes discomfort.

  • (a) No article promises a specific change in weight, strength, energy, or mood.
  • (b) Statistics describe groups, not individuals.
  • (c) Personal stories are labelled and presented as individual accounts.

4. Responsible use

You must not misuse forms, interfere with site security, impersonate another person, or submit unlawful, harmful, or confidential material. Do not submit medical records through ordinary contact channels.

Responsible use covers the contact form, any feedback channel, and the downloadable resources. Automated submissions, attempts to probe the site for weaknesses, scraping that places an unreasonable load on the server, and use of the form to send advertising are not permitted. Plume may block an address, delete a message, or restrict access where it has reasonable grounds to think these rules are being broken. Where behaviour appears to breach Indonesian law, including Law No. 11 of 2008 on Electronic Information and Transactions as amended, Plume may preserve relevant records and cooperate with a lawful request from an authority.

  • (a) Do not submit another person’s personal information without their permission.
  • (b) Do not send files, scripts, or links intended to harm a device or mislead other readers.
  • (c) Do not claim to speak on behalf of Plume.

Plume applies reasonable technical safeguards, including an encrypted connection, validation of the contact form, and limits on repeated submissions. Readers who find a security weakness are asked to report it through contact.php, describing what they saw without accessing other people’s data. Reports made in good faith are acknowledged within 5 working days and are not treated as a breach of these terms. Access to the site from outside Indonesia is allowed, but the reader remains responsible for compliance with the laws of the place where they are.

5. Intellectual property

Plume text, design, and branding are protected by applicable law. You may read and share links for personal, non-commercial reference with attribution. Reproduction of substantial content requires written permission.

Sharing a link to an article is welcome, and a short quotation of one or two sentences with a clear credit and a link back to the original page is acceptable. Copying whole articles, republishing images, or presenting Plume’s material as another publisher’s work requires written permission from the editorial desk. Photographs on the site are used under licence or created for Plume and remain the property of their owners. Requests for permission should state the intended use, the audience, and the length of the extract, and the editorial desk aims to reply within 14 days.

The Plume name, the logo, and the layout of the site are not to be used in a way that suggests affiliation or endorsement. Plume text may be quoted in academic work, journalism, and workplace training with a clear credit. Names of other organisations, journals, and public bodies mentioned in articles belong to their owners and are used only to identify sources. A person who believes that material on the site infringes their rights may write to the editorial desk with the page address, a description of the material, and a statement of their interest, and the desk reviews such notices within 14 days.

  • (a) Short quotation with credit and a link: acceptable.
  • (b) Republication of images, tables, or whole articles: written permission required.
  • (c) Use of the Plume name to imply partnership: not permitted.

6. Reader submissions

When you send a message, you confirm that you have authority to share it. You grant Plume permission to use the information to respond, moderate, correct, or improve editorial work, subject to the Privacy policy.

A message sent through the form may be read by several members of the editorial desk, and Plume will not publish a message or name a sender without separate written permission. If a reader agrees to a story or comment being used, the permission will describe how it will appear, whether the name will be shown, and how the reader can withdraw it. Plume may edit a quoted message for length and clarity, but will not change its meaning. Submissions that contain another person’s details or confidential material may be deleted without a reply.

Messages are retained for the period stated in the Privacy policy, unless a longer period is needed to complete a correction or respond to a lawful request. A reader can ask for a message to be deleted by writing through contact.php and quoting the date of sending. Plume does not pay for submissions, and sending a message does not create an obligation to publish or reply. Readers should not include health details about other people in a message.

  • (a) Deletion requests are acknowledged within 5 working days.
  • (b) Anonymised summaries of reader questions may be kept for editorial planning.

7. Third-party links

Links may lead to services Plume does not operate. Their content, availability, privacy practices, and security are their responsibility. A link is not an endorsement or clinical recommendation.

Plume chooses links to public institutions, professional bodies, and research publishers because they help a reader check a statement, and it reviews links at least twice a year. A page that has moved, been withdrawn, or changed in character may be removed or replaced, and a reader who finds a broken or unsuitable link can report it through contact.php. Plume does not receive payment for the placement of editorial links and does not control the content of the destination. Readers who follow a link are subject to that site’s own terms and privacy notice.

A link to a document, such as a PDF, is described with its type where practicable. Plume cannot check the content of every linked page at every moment, and a page may change after the link was added. Where a link leads to a service that sells products, the article states that the link is for reference. Readers should check the privacy notice of any linked site before sharing personal information.

  • (a) Links are chosen for reference value, not for payment.
  • (b) Broken or unsuitable links can be reported through contact.php and are reviewed within 30 days.

8. Availability

We aim to keep Plume available but cannot promise uninterrupted access. Maintenance, hosting incidents, network failures, or security measures may temporarily limit access without creating a right to compensation.

Planned maintenance is carried out, where possible, at times of lower traffic in the Jakarta time zone (WIB, UTC+7), and significant interruptions are noted on the site when practical. Content that readers have saved or printed may differ from the current page after a correction or update. Plume may withdraw or change a page, a feature, or a resource at any time for editorial, legal, or technical reasons. A reader who relies on the site for a time-sensitive purpose should keep an independent copy of the information that matters to them.

Plume does not keep reader accounts, so there is no login that could become unavailable. Downloadable resources are offered as they are, and if a file cannot be opened a reader can ask for a different format through contact.php. Hosting providers apply their own maintenance windows, and Plume has no control over interruptions in a reader’s own network or device. Where a planned change affects how a resource is accessed, a dated note is placed on the page.

  • (a) Interruptions caused by hosting or network incidents do not create a right to compensation.
  • (b) A reader may ask for a resource in another format, and the desk aims to reply within 10 working days.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by Indonesian law, Plume is not liable for indirect loss arising from reliance on general editorial information. Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.

The limits in this section apply to loss that could not reasonably have been expected to follow from reading general information, such as loss of income, loss of opportunity, or consequential damage. They do not remove a reader’s statutory rights as a consumer, and they do not limit responsibility for fraud, intentional wrongdoing, or any matter that Indonesian law does not allow to be limited. Readers are responsible for their own decisions and for checking that a practice is appropriate for them. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining parts continue to apply.

The site is provided free of charge, and Plume’s responsibility for any claim connected with its use is limited to the extent permitted by Indonesian law. A reader who has bought a product or service from a third party after reading about a category on Plume has a relationship only with that third party. Statements in articles are made in good faith, and Plume does not accept liability for the content of material written by others and linked from the site. These limits do not restrict rights that the law gives to consumers.

  • (a) Loss arising from decisions made without individual professional advice.
  • (b) Loss arising from third-party websites reached by a link.
  • (c) Interruption of access caused by events outside Plume’s reasonable control.

10. Changes and law

These terms were updated on 12 February 2026. We may revise them with a dated notice on this page. Indonesian law applies, and disputes should first be raised with the editorial desk at the Jakarta address listed on the site.

Plume handles a dispute in three steps. First, the reader writes to the editorial desk, at the Jakarta address or through contact.php, describing the matter and the outcome sought. Second, the desk acknowledges the message within 5 working days and aims to reply in substance within 30 days. Third, if the matter is not resolved, the parties may discuss mediation and, failing that, the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the competent courts in South Jakarta.

Revision log for this page: 12 February 2026, expanded the sections on permitted use, reader submissions, availability, and the dispute procedure, with the wording of the original sections left unchanged. Material changes will be shown with a date, and the date at the top of the page will be updated at the same time.

Notice of a change is given by publishing the revised terms on this page with a new date, and questions about a change can be sent at any time. Correspondence should be addressed to the editorial desk at Jalan Melati 15, RT.002/RW.005, Cilandak Barat, Jakarta Selatan, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta 12430, Indonesia, or by telephone on +62 812 5558 7643 during weekday business hours in Jakarta. Plume replies in English.

Additional log entry: 12 February 2026, clarified the scope of the terms, security reporting, quotation permissions, retention of submissions, and the limits of liability, without removing any existing section.
